Cyclear and Cyclist

Having launched its ground-breaking Cyclist Warning Display System - Cyclear™ - at last year's show Innovative Safety Systems Ltd (ISS) returns to the Plant And Waste Recycling Show with a raft of high-spec vehicle safety products, designed and built in the UK.

Reverse camera systems, LED vehicle lighting, Reverse radar systems, Hard Disk Recording (DVR) and bespoke safety products, ISS continually invests in research and development to bring new technological solutions to the waste industry and help vehicle operators improve the safety and security of their fleets.

Gavin Thoday, Managing Director, ISS said: "It's great to be back at PAWRS. Since the introduction of the new Euro 6 vehicles we've had record-breaking sales across all our products and Cyclear is becoming firmly established as the leading cyclist safety system for the waste sector in the UK with growing interest from overseas. We design and build as much of our equipment in house as we can and we only invest in high specification products that meet our stringent standards. We will soon be launching more game-changing products into the market place so the next 12 months promises to be just as busy and that's the way we like it !"

The LANlink system is going down a storm with ISS clients because it has been developed to help provide peace of mind for waste vehicle operators. Designed to work in harmony with Hard Disk Recording (DVR) systems LANlink enables recorded footage to be downloaded remotely and automatically, by WiFi, as each vehicle returns to the depot.
With no monthly on-costs, LANlink is a cost efficient and reliable solution, which also produces a daily health report for every camera and recording device on each vehicle, so any faults can be addressed immediately.

Cyclear is being adopted by an increasing proportion of local authorities and private sector operators and financial projections are on target to achieve sales of £2.5million this year in the UK alone. The system comprises an illuminated sign and speaker to alert cyclists and vulnerable road users when a vehicle is turning left. An optional sequencing sensor alerts the driver when a cyclist or pedestrian is approaching and filters out the false alarms that plagued its predecessors. Vehicle operators can use one or both elements of Cyclear installed on their fleet depending on specific requirements and budget.

The City of London Corporation is a CLOCS (Construction Logistics and Cyclist Safety) champion and FORS (Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme) Gold Accredited, and in a recent trials its waste collection, cleansing and recycling provider Amey awarded the highest possible scores to ISS for Cyclear and its four-way camera system.

Grant Taw, Transport Compliance Manager (City of London Contract), Amey said: "The build quality of Cyclear is better than the majority of its competitors and the system usability keeps things simple without adding confusion or over complicating the information being fed back to the driver. The driver still needs to drive and that can't be secondary to safety equipment."
